Project: FERC Part 12D Review of Safety Reports

Participated annually since 2007 in FERC Part 12D 5-year Safety Reviews for over 60 PG&E hydroelectric dams in California. Responsibilities have included:
Review of field and laboratory testing of foundation and embankment materials.
Review of seismicity, hydrology and stability studies.
Evaluation of instrumentation data and review of operation procedures.
Preparation and/or updating of Supporting Technical Information Documents, Potential Failure Mode Analysis Reports and Part 12D Safety Inspection Reports.
Project: Small Dam Supporting Technical

Year: 2007 - 2012
From 2007 through 2012, prepared Supporting Technical Information Documents for 42 of PG&E’s small dams.
Project: Camanche and Pardee Dams
FERC Part 12D 5-year Safety Inspection Reports and Potential Failure Mode Analysis (PFMA) workshops
Client: EBMUD/GEI Consultants
Year: 2007 and 2012
Participated in the 2007 and 2013 FERC Part 12D 5-year Safety Inspection Reports and Potential Failure Mode Analysis (PFMA) workshops for the East Bay Municipal Utility District’s Pardee and Camanche Dams. Collaborated with EBMUD in preparation of the Supporting Technical Information Documents (STID), including review of background documents (stability, seismicity and hydrology reports; construction history, project drawings and instrumentation data).
Project: Slickrock Creek Retention Reservoir
Location: Redding, California

Year: 2007 - 2013
On-going participation in semi-annual and annual safety inspections of the 150-foot-high earth and rock fill dam which stores acid drainage from a watershed affected by mining operations. As part of the inspection team, prepares the safety inspection reports summarizing team findings and evaluates and summarizes project instrumentation.
Project: Leroy Anderson Dam
Location: Morgan Hill, California
Year: 2007 and 2011
Participated in the 2007 and 2011 FERC Part 12D 5-year Review of Safety Review for a 240-foot high, zoned earth-rock dam located on Coyote Creek near Morgan Hill, CA. Researched and drafted the Supporting Technical Information Document (STID) including review of background documents (stability, seismicity and hydrology reports; construction history, project drawings and instrumentation data). Collaborated on follow-up studies in 2008, including investigation of embankment transition zones, the foundation rock drain and establishment of recommended action levels for 31 new vibrating wire piezometers.
Project: Sacramento Municipal Utility District Upper American River Project
Client: SMUD/GEI Consultants
Year: 2008, 2011 and 2013
2008 and 2013 FERC Part 12D 5-year Inspection and Review of Safety Reports for the Upper American River Project (UARP). Collaborated with the Independent Consultant in preparation of the Part 12D reports, including review of background documents (stability, seismicity and hydrology reports; construction history, project drawings), field inspections and instrumentation data review.
2011 Supporting Technical Information Documents (STIDs). Collaborated with SMUD to update the STIDs to include new and revised information.
